About Me:

Visit Rewriting the Script

No one challenges traditional roles and stereotypes more than Arlether Wilson. She defied the odds and today she is the award winning author of Rewriting the Script, a veteran police officer, certified Child Abuse and Family Violence Investigator.

As a victims’ advocate, she is responsible for the coordination of all victim service operations at her department.

Wilson earned her Master Peace Officer Certification, which is the highest honor bestowed upon a Texas peace officer. During her tenure she promoted up the ranks and became the first female captain at her department. In 1998, she was honored as officer of the year and is recognized as a leader in her profession. Among several other honors, she has earned several congressional and senate commendations. .

But she didn’t stop there. Wilson became an avid volunteer and advocate for women and children across the country. Audiences around the world are receptive to her experiences because she is truthful and transparent in her approach.

She holds a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science. Arlether is the Texas Ambassador for w.o.m.e.n.EO, Inc., a national organization that supports and empowers women and young girls.

In 2008 she established the Arlether Wilson Scholarship Fund. Its mission is to provide financial assistance to students attending Phillis Wheatley High School. The fund believes that education can help empower students and improve their quality of life.

In addition to being the owner of the Jerant Publishing Company, she is also a contributor to Think Positive Magazine, a new publication that motivates its readers to make positive life changes. She is currently co-author of a new book titled “Urban Teens and the Law”, which will be available this Fall. The first book from her new Teen Series will be available Spring of 2009.

Who is Arlether Wilson?
A Woman of Substance
By Cynthia Michaels

Every woman has struggles and challenges throughout their lifetime. But not like Arlether Wilson. Her life is quite unique and plays out like a tragic Cinderella Story. Saying that she is a survivor doesn't say enough about the journey that she has traveled. She lived through the abuse of the foster care system for more than ten years of her life. She survived sexual abuse, homelessness, and the ruthless living environment of Fifth Ward, a poverty stricken community in Houston, Texas. When I sat down to read Arlether's 255 page Book, I needed to take a few breaks - to breathe deeply, and thank God that she is still with us and able to write about her life, in a shockingly, truthful account. Most women would have given up, if they had suffered through the childhood that she went through. She endured so much pain. She was robbed of her childhood and her innocence. Her life changed after Black American poet, essayist and lecturer, Nikki Giovanni visited Phillis Wheatley High School. That was the first time Arlether was inspired to write. Her
book, Rewriting the Script, takes you on a vivid journey of a nightmarish life that she survived to become a woman of substance.

Rewriting the Script is a story of abandonment, abuse, grief and success. It's a celebration of rebirth. A story of one woman's struggle and her courageous attempt and triumph to turn her life around. She became a Mother, a Wife, a divorcee, a Police Officer, a certified Child Abuse and Family Violence Investigator and then pursued her Masters Degree in Behavioral Science. She is a proud and good mother of two wonderful young adults. She is working on her next book and her doctorate degree. We celebrate her as she continues to rewrite the script of an accomplished life. Thank you for being an inspiration to women.

't be a stranger. Marie

"It’s Crunch Time!”, This is a new children’s book by Marie Brewer ( for the link to book) This is my book of muscle for boys (ages 9-12) to point them in the direction of HOPE!...This is an interactive book where they can write about their feelings. It discusses acceptable behavior, honesty, good self-image, respect for females and animals, appreciation for teachers/school, choosing good friends. The book also talks about resisting gangs, guns, drugs, violence, alcohol and bad influences. Let's attack the behavior, not the boy. "It's Crunch Time!" , by Marie Brewer, Be a part of the village to help our boys envision their true God-given purpose!
We can turn this thing around! SEE! THINK ! ACT!
