P.R.E.T.T.Y. is an acronym for Proactive Responsible Educated Totally Together Young Ladies. We are a self-esteem and Self-development program for Black and Latina girls ages 12 to 17. The focus of this program is to facilitate the development of goal oriented and conscientious young ladies. These ladies will grow to influence positive social change, even if that change starts within their homes. Our girls are the future, but they are the present too. Our curriculum covers: Fashion; Performing Arts; Self-awareness; Life Skills, Social Consciousness, Entrepreneurship; and Educational Enrichment. They are stated in the form of affirmations, because we understand that behavior does not stem from a list of do’s and don’ts, but from ones character. It is our intention to teach girls certain character traits that will more easily facilitate their development. We also believe that when young ladies possess certain character traits they behave themselves favorably in all situations and their good behavior comes naturally. Despite whether these statements are all true when girls start the program (most likely they are not, because then there would be no need for the program), the goal is that they will be true when girls leave the program. These are just a few of our rules.
I am respectful and respectable; I carry myself like a lady at all times and I am an example to my peers!
I am determined,; I have goals and I will accomplish them!
I am a survivor; I have to make sure that my dreams come true!
I am confident; I know who I am and I’m comfortable letting other people be themselves!
I am not insecure; therefore, I don’t need to say anything negative about anyone!
I am BEAUTIFUL, both inside and out; I don’t need to tell anybody because they will see it for themselves.
We are a nonprofit and our program is free. If we passed the cost of operating such a program, the girls who would best benefit would not be able to attend. As their families typically do not have the resources for these types of "extras."

. More info to come soon.

I absolutely love and support what you are doing. I am a licensed Social Worker and we are in dier need of this kind of service all around the world. Too many of our girls are broken at too young an age and have no outlet. Continue to build and strengthen their spirits. Blessings
