AAMBC Publications Excepting Submissions

AAMBC Publications

I was wondering if the members of African Americans on the move Book Club wanted to create a not-for-profit publishing company that publishes Anthologies for the member poets and authors. This anthology could be used to promote the talented Authors/Poets and the AAMBC "brand"

An anthology is simply a collection of stories by different writers. Similar to a "mix tape" for rappers. The anthology could be created using a theme and all contributors add their piece… Continue

Never Lose Yourself

NEVER LOSE YOURSELF

Never let them drift away in a whirl of wind

The dreams and goals, aspirations, you

Through my eyes, talent left to rot is a sin

Determine we must our lives, a clue

There are many talent-filled, but shiftless

Knowledge abounds, the potential, but trapped, forsaken

Obstacles, low self esteem, the plagues, one less

Not I, I declare, not a piece but the pie I have taken

Your foundation, your chance that foot in the… Continue

I just wanted to say I think this is a fantatic communtiy, but i feel like a stranger here. Seems like no one hardly replies to my post. I put a blog out and no answers. I was just wondering do I really belong here? I feel like only maybe two people have replied and showed intrest toward me. I want to be active here, because i'm active in another communtiy. I don't feel active here, because i feel I'm just invisible here. I had decided to delete my profile here, but found out i had a friend… Continue

1st Fitting

So I finally tried on the wedding dress (that I made). I love it and although it's different than what i had originally wanted, I still LOVE. This is the only place I can post any pictures, because I am sure my future husband will not join this community.

My hair was a mess, I have on a regular bra, and the dress needs a really good pressing, but I just tried it on for "fitting" purposes. Being my bottom has is slightly larger than my… Continue

Help Each Other By Inspiration

Have you inspired someone today?

Believe me we all need inspiration sometimes.

I recently met a sister entreprenuer named Robin. She has a business called SISTER SELLING SOCKS.

For the first time in a long time I have met someone who works to inspire me as well as be inspired by me.

So it is a give take relationship not a give give.

Robin has helped me rekindle some of my skills from the past like Jewelry making. She challenged me to bring her 20 pieces of Jewelry… Continue

How to Create a "Media Buzz"

No one’s going to know anything about you do unless you tell them. You have to “create a buzz.” What does that mean? It means you have to market yourself in such a way that creates attention to you and visibility.

How do you do that?

Promote Yourself. Don’t Be Shy. If you want to be recognized for what you do you have to promote yourself. I am a big fan of Press Releases, however, they only work if you know how to write them. As a former News Assignment Editor I can tell… Continue

Build a Media Plan

Identify the radio and or television shows you would like to be interviewed on. Listen to those programs so you can get an idea of the interviewing style of the host. Find out the kind of topics he or she tends to focus on to see if you would be a good fit for their show. The worst thing you can do is send an email or media release to someone who focuses on politics and you want to talk about gardening. Also, it certainly doesn’t hurt to let the host know you listened to a particular show and… Continue

What Makes Me a Media Expert?

Before you decide to give anybody your hard-earned money for media services, you need to do some homework.

You need to ask yourself AND the “expert” what makes them qualified to teach you about getting media exposure and the other little tricks of the trade when it comes to publicity. Is it because they send out the most emails boasting about all they can do to help you or have you talked to real people who can give you glowing testimonials about their work?

Did they have… Continue
